rabbi david, you asked how people at the time of moses knew what time it was at night - midnight… answer i found - Shadow Clock The shadow clock should have been really called a shadow watch. It could fit in a pocket and was easy to carry around. These shadow clocks were used in eighth century BC. In the morning, the clock’s crossbar must face the east and it must be turned around in the afternoon. The shadow clock was a predecessor to the sundial. As I listened, I thought of the ‘Great Rejection’ towards ‘People of Color’ and we darker-skinned messianic - orthodox - reformed Jews.

Rabbi Levine, we receive much rejection and for the African- Americans centuries of killings, rapes, abuse and even in 2011 the evil goes on. As recent as NOW, discrimination continues.

WE, ‘People of Color’ REALLY HAVE TO FORGIVE. For recently I learned from a Reformed Jewish Synagogue that European Jews -white Jews had a hand in the Slave Trade in the Carribean Islands and etc. etc.

This is so sad: Being rejected - yet rejected others who are different. European/white Jews especially Messianic, who profess the ‘Ruach ha Kodesh’ need to examine themselves to see if they are really in the ‘Way’. Our ‘Jewish Brother’ Messiah Yeshua said that we must LOVE ONE ANOTHER. JEWS DURING YESHUA’S TIME WERE ALL DIFFERENT SHADES AND COLORS - yet REJECTION is among us.

Rabbis, Prophets, Prophetesses, and all FIVE FOLD MINISTRY should teach the people TRUTH - SHINE THE LIGHT OF THE ‘WORD’ MESSIAH YESHUA and kill racism and other evils. FEED THE FLOCK TRUTH AND MAKE THEM AWARE - THESE EVILS SHOULD NOT BE AMONG US.

What is our purpose here? To flee persecution because the Holy Spirit is unable to change people’s hearts? I think we should all go over to live with any in the body of Messiah and stand ground there. Is there someplace in Scripture that provides an example to flee? I’m thinking.

I learn so much from your sermons. I am an old lady who has listened to sermons for over sixty years, so when I tell you this, you can believe they have blessed me. Your diction, content, smootheness of delivery makes listening so pleasant. I was an English teacher for over thirty years, and i CRINGE when I hear some messages. Regardless of excellent content, many preachers violate many grammar rules (especially agreement using pronouns), and that really becomes a distraction. Thank you for explaining everything so carefully. Your images are sharp and clear. You are an outstanding writer and speaker.

This was a great message, timely for me. I have been a widow for just six months. I have felt like an outsider–losing knowlege of who I really am without the duties of waiting on my husband, an invalid from Parkinsons Disease for 23 years. I was “Ralph’s wfe” for 57 years. Now, I feel as if I am nobody. My mantle of protecion I had as his wife has been removed from me also. I feel alone an vulnerable. This instruction to othrs for the treatment of widows was comforting.

Moses did enter the promise land. Figuratively and literally. HaSem told him to look to the sea, look to my right hand and so on…what he was doing was saying look around you east, west north and south. This is the promise land you stand in. It is not what you see in the physical world that is the promise land, but what you have through HaSem (salvation) that becomes the promise land. What we have or don’t have here doesn’t matter, only through HaSem (Torah) and YHWH in the flesh (Yeshua Messiach) do we find the promise land.

Rabbi, You were speaking to me when you spoke on the commandments (I hope this is the right podcast). My difficulty is not in wanting to keep them, its my ability in light of my current community. I am a gentile Christian believer that has always felt there was more, and now that I’m deciding to study and walk out what I find, there is such persecution and pressure to believe otherwise. I cannot believe that so many think that Torah is no longer relevant of necessary!

I appreciate your podcasts and have learned so much. When I heard you say those words, I knew I had to let you know…you were not off base, but right on target. In fact, I have been struggling with this a lot this week, and then I listened to your 4/23 podcast and this one…they were right on time, and such a relief. Regarding your April 25th sermon, I wanted to share a small bit of knowledge. You mentioned that no one else in the Roman world was expecting the messiah except for the Jews. Marcus Cicero discussed waiting for the Hebrew messiah in his writings. Although, Cicero was a Roman pagan, he was part of group of intellectuals who befriended other intellectual Jews living in Rome and surrounding wealthy cities of the day. Cicero and many of the day were more open to mysticism (than we are today), and too awaited a righteous king who would save the world from elitist corruption, theft, and war.

Cicero writes about Rome as if he lived in 21st century America. He makes a great study.

Listening to your sermon made me count the ways that have helped me keep thoughts that could lead to sin in my heart. The Torah Service and praise and worship, the fellowship with other believers and my wonderful bible study group. We had a wonderful Passover Seder Wednesday night. My manna from Heaven Ministry and cooking and serving the Saturday Oneg. All of these things keep me focused on learning and serving the Lord, which leaves little time for thinking about any thing else. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit must be the center of your life to avoid sin as much as you can.

I wish to thank you so much for this sermon. I realized it was what I truely needed to hear. I feel like Moses trying to do everything myself. I have always been this way and it has always exhausted me. Your sermon has opened my eyes to the fact that I have tryed to be all things to all people. Peacemaker, helper, servant etc. and even financial helper. If you have read my book you know once I said enough and I was able to solve a problem with my mother-in-law. Eventually I fell in to the same pattern again. Your sermon has made me realize my error and I am trying to do things more in the way you described. Thanks for your prayer. It is already helping.

Dear Rabbi, Do you allow Messianic Gentiles to attend services? I would classify myself and my family as Messianic Gentiles. Even though my father’s family is from Czech., we have taken a deep interest in the deeper things of Adonai. We would love to attend a Messianic synagogue in our area but we feel that maybe we would not be welcome. I have listened to Messianic messages and we love them, however, we feel as if we are not one of “God’s chosen” because we don’t have the blood of a Jew. We have an adopted daughter and I have come to realize that love goes way beyond blood. I love both my children, it doesn’t matter what kind of blood they have running through their veins. I have been praying that I could know my Father more intimately and He has placed in me a burning desire to no longer be ignorant of Jewish custom and language, but to learn of Him, His Way and His People. Rabbi, your sermon on being still meant so much to me. I have been a mother all my life. First to my brother then my children and finally to my grandson Chris. I have always tried to do things for them. I realize now that I have not always listened to what the L_rd wanted me to do but rather what I thought was best. My pride I feel got in my way sometimes, thinking I always knew what the L_rd reqiured of me. I know now that I acted when I should have listened. Even at 73 years od age I know that I still need to grow in the L_rd, Thank you for your sermon. It has helped me so much. I will listen more and then act when the L_rd wants me to. Please keep me in your prayers. I feel in these last years of my life he will require much of me.

We always appreciate your messages so much. We’ve especially been blessed by this and the “seed of the woman” message. We as a family have relistened to them several times, which has provoked amazing discussion with our children. Many other times, the children have brought up, asked, & discussed things they are identifing everywhere is our culture (seemingly benign tv & movies, cartoons, t-shirts!, billboards, inauguration speaches, etc) that align themselves with the positions you discussed. I believe it is extremely important for our children (and ourselves) to be thinking individuals, well-equiped in this day and the culture we live in, so that we “know what we believe and why we believe it” in order to be strong enough to withstand the winds against us, like the “house build upon the ROCK”! I believe, only in this way can we truely be the “light” that Adonai has called us to be, to share and disciple those He puts around us, as well as not being tossed around by “every wave of doctrine”. Your teachings have greatly aided us in this work. Others we have referred this teaching to have also gotten much from it. Thank you so much for your research & time in His service.

I am listening to this podcast, and am currently up to the bit about the death of Nimrod. As I was listening to your discussion on the ziggurat, in particular about the top of the ziggurat being a counterfeit of heaven, I was for some reason reminded of Bruce Lee’s last film, Game of Death, which was never released during his lifetime because he died during its production. In case you don’t know about the film, the climax takes place in a pagoda (another form of ziggurat?). Being a martial arts film, the film shows each level of the pagoda as featuring a different martial philosophy; on each level, Bruce Lee has to face a fighter specialising in a different martial arts style. The top level is inhabited by… Kareem Abdul Jabbar (seriously!), whose martial arts style is exactly the same as Bruce Lee’s own style, the so-called style without style, shown to be superior to the previous styles that he has had to face so far. What the style without style … uh, style means is that it has no fixed stance, and adjusts to any attack very flexibly. Okay, why am I telling you all this (aside from having a tendency to babble on - no pun intended), is I think Game of Death wasn’t simply an action film but was a vehicle for Bruce Lee to express his martial arts philosophy, Jeet Kune Do. I believe this was also the same philosophy that he applied to life, heavily drawing from Far Eastern philosophical religions such as Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism (particularly its East Asian varieties). Perhaps the concept of style-without-style was derived from the Buddhist concept of Nothingness, or Mu in Japanese, which is apparently the goal of Buddhist thought. So to bring it back to the ziggurat… I guess what reminded me of this film while listening to your podcast was that the location of this allusion to the Buddhist ‘heaven’ (which is really nothingness in pure Buddhism, freedom from the sufferings of reincarnation), at the top of a tower. So yeah, I guess even today, Nimrod’s tower is everywhere, even in a 1970’s action film with philosophical influence from the far east, a seemingly unlikely place. (PS. I was also reminded of that monstrous national heritage building in my home country, Indonesia: a Buddhist temple called Borobudur - you might have heard of it. Like the pagoda, it depicts levels of spiritual enlightenment, culminating in top level that supposedly reflects nirvana, not to mention gives sore legs). Anyway, enough of my ranting. Thank you if you have been reading. I have been intrigued by your podcast, and your other podcasts have been a blessing too.

I was so glad to find your message. I am so relieved to know that their are some Jewish Rabbi’s who do understand that this according to Torah was not the Angel of Ya’akov but Elohim.

A few years ago, before I went to bed, I prayed ” L-rd teach me your commandments”. The next morning I heard the words “I will instruct you O Jacob”. I am not sure if the L-rd in calling me “Jacob” was telling me I am blood Jacob or not, but as far as I know I am a Gentile. As a Gentile I don’t know yet too much about who the “sages” are, but I noticed that according to Rabbi Richman of Israel National Radio, he presented this Man whom Jacob wrestled with as the angel of Ya’akov according to the sages.

This is a copy of a letter I recently sent to him;

I listened to your Temple Talk show on Torah portion Vayishlach. But I don’t quite see that this was speaking of the Angel of Esav. Genesis 32:29 says, “you have striven with G-d and with men.” I see here that it appears to be saying that Jacob wrestled with man (Esau) in the womb in order to receive the blessing of his earthly father (a man) and now Jacob wrestles with the Angel of G-d in order to receive the blessing from his heavenly father. In fact this Angel so much so represents G-d that Yaakov felt like he could even say he saw G-d face to face. How is it that it is thought that this was the Angel of Esav? Even In Hosea 12:4-5 it says, In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he strove with G-d. He strove with the angel and prevailed, he wept and sought his favor. He met G-d at Beit-El, and there G-d spoke with him – the L-rd of Host, the L-rd is his name.”

I love the Jews and I realize that there is a lot I can learn from Jewish Rabbi’s, but I am also realizing that the “sages” are not always correct in their interpretaion. Do you think the orthodox Rabbi’s would agree that the “sages” are not always right in their interpretation? Do you think it would still be worth my time to study what the sages have to say anyway?

By the way, I have learned some Hebrew so I also looked at the Hebrew in these verses.

Thank you kevin for this wonderful teaching. I am only able most of the time to attend Sat. morning Torah Service and am so gratdful for these podcasts. Without them I would not hear your teachings. To me this was the best from you that I’ve heard, mostly because you have cleared up so much of what I thought was new age teaching. I now now that this is the same old hideous lie that the evil one has tried in different ways to propergate. We must all continue to study our bible, praise and worship Adoni, Yeshua and keep on asking the Holy Spirit to fall on us and close our hearts, minds, eyes and ears to all the old lies. I know that love is what the Father wants of me. Loving and worshiping him and as Yeshua commanded us to love one another as we love ourselves.

Loved this message! Since you both know we are having a Jewish miracle baby pretty soon!! As a matter of fact, I am a miracle baby too. After my mom had her first child, my older brother, she had an ovary removed and was told that she may have difficulty conceiving again. She conceived two times after that but the pregnancies resulted in miscarriages. At that time my parents were not true believers. It was our neighbors from across our house who heard what was going on and when my mom conceived again they went to see her and prayed for her. And here I am!!! Willie was not even planned. His older sister was 21 when his mom got pregnant with him and he was conceived in the middle of a very difficult time for his family. So having said that, he is also a JEWISH miracle baby.

I can’t wait to listen tomorrow’s message.

I think it is especially important for us Messianic’s to remember that Yeshua said anyone who denies him will be denied by the Father. When we religiously follow the teachings of anyone who openly unrepentantly denied/denies Yeshua as Messiah, are we not then following a false prophet? There are many in our time who abstain from calling and/or letting themselves be titled as prohets who in every way behave as if that is exactly what they are. I think it is even more insidious to teach as if one is a prophet, but deny that is what one is, so that more people will follow. And some all throughout Judaism have used the title of Rabbi in one of its’ many forms when what they were doing was being prophets. We should judge them according to that.

I am a believer in Bakersfield CA where we have no Messianic Synagogue. Thank Yeshua for the Word he has given through this ministry. Because of this podcast, I am able to hear the Word all day long as I travel for work through the State of California.

I came on this site searching for teaching on the paralell between the Tabernacle Pattern and our own personal coming to God (our own body being the temple…body, soul, spirit) …entering the gates with thanksgiving..etc. especially drawing this paralell by the words…..todah, yahdah, halal, tehillah etc. Could you possibly point me to teaching on this?
